New Year's Eve is the only party where everyone already knows the plan: be together at midnight. Everything your invitation says is about who you want in the room when the clock strikes twelve. This guide gives you more than forty New Year party invitation messages to copy — for friends, family and colleagues, funny ones, short ones for WhatsApp and Instagram, a few in Hindi — plus New Year's Eve invitation wording for a house party, a rooftop, a black-tie dinner and a New Year's Day brunch. It covers what to put on the invitation and when to send it, and shows you a digital New Year invitation that counts down from ten, fills the screen with fireworks and has them spell out 2027.

What to put on a New Year’s Eve party invitation

New Year's Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday, 31 December, so many people will be working that day and travelling that night. A good invitation answers the practical questions up front:

  • The start time — and "till late" or an end time. "From 8 pm" tells people when to arrive; "dancing until we can't" tells them not to book an early taxi.
  • Where you will be at midnight — the roof, the garden, the terrace — so nobody is in the queue for the bathroom at 11:59.
  • The dress code. Black tie, sequins, pyjamas or "anything with sparkle".
  • Food and drink. Dinner, nibbles, a potluck, BYOB — say which.
  • Getting home. Night trains, a taxi rank, a spare room or "the sofa's yours". This is the detail guests appreciate most and hosts forget most.
  • Plus-ones and children. Especially if you are planning a children's countdown at 9 pm.
  • How and by when to reply — New Year's Eve plans change fast, so ask for replies by around 20 December.

Short one-liners for WhatsApp and Instagram:

  • New year, same favourite people. Party at ours on the 31st?
  • Let's end 2026 the way it deserves — together, and loudly.
  • Countdown starts at our place. Bring your sparkle.
  • Auld acquaintance is not being forgot. See you on the 31st.
  • Last party of the year, first memory of the next.

When to send New Year’s Eve invitations

New Year's Eve is the most double-booked night of the year, so send early:

  • Big parties and dinners: three to four weeks ahead — by the first week of December
  • Small gatherings with close friends: two to three weeks ahead
  • Office celebrations: four weeks ahead, since many teams break up mid-December
  • Ask for replies by about 20 December, so you can plan food, drinks and spare beds
  • Send a reminder on 30 December with the time, the address and how people are getting home

A digital invitation makes the reminder effortless — it is the same link, already updated with any change.

A New Year invitation that counts down to midnight

We designed Midnight to be the most dramatic invitation on anyone's phone this December.

It opens on a gilded Art Deco clock at a minute to midnight, and a single line: it's almost midnight. Your guest taps "Count us in". The screen counts down from ten while the second hand sweeps, and at twelve it flashes white, confetti falls and real fireworks go up — the last one bursting into sparks that gather in the sky to spell 2027, then melt into gold. Only then does your invitation appear underneath.

Then, as they scroll:

  • A split-flap countdown to midnight, flipping like an old airport board
  • A letter from the hosts, greeting each guest by name
  • The night as gold tickets — champagne, dinner, the countdown, dancing — with the midnight ticket in gold foil
  • "Leave it in 2026" — a little ritual: guests type one thing they are not taking into the new year and watch it burn away into sparks, then send a wish up to become a star. Nobody else sees it.
  • The year in photos on a film strip they can swipe
  • What to wear, with swatches taken from your dress code
  • Where, and getting home — the address, a map, a calendar button and your note about trains, taxis or the spare sofa
  • An RSVP that asks how many are coming and a song for midnight, sent to you as one WhatsApp message, text or email
  • A wall for toasts where everyone can raise a glass early

You can address it to every guest. Add ?to= and their name to the end of your link — …?to=Jules+and+Sam — and the invitation opens "For Jules and Sam".

Midnight is a one-time ₹499 to publish, for as many guests as you like, and you can preview before you pay. It works for a house party, a rooftop countdown, a black-tie dinner or an office celebration.

How to make your New Year invitation online

  • Open the Midnight design and tap "Use this design" — no account needed to start.
  • Add who is hosting and what the night is called — "New Year's Eve on the Roof".
  • Add the date, start time and venue, and set the date to 31 December so the countdown runs to midnight.
  • Add the night's plan, the dress code and a note about getting home.
  • Write a few lines about the year you have had — it is the part guests reply to.
  • Preview it, count down to midnight yourself, then publish and share the link on WhatsApp, iMessage or Instagram.

Quick checklist

  • Give the start time and say whether it runs till late.
  • Say where everyone will be at midnight.
  • State the dress code — black tie, sequins, pyjamas or "anything with sparkle".
  • Say whether you are providing dinner, nibbles or a potluck, and whether to bring a bottle.
  • Add a note on getting home: night trains, taxis or a spare bed.
  • Ask for replies by about 20 December.
  • Send invitations three to four weeks ahead, and a reminder on 30 December.

Frequently asked questions

Say who is hosting, that it is a New Year's Eve party, the date, start time and address, the dress code, whether to bring anything, how guests will get home and how to reply. Open with a warm line such as "Let's see this year out together".

Send them three to four weeks before — by the first week of December for big parties — and ask for replies by around 20 December. New Year's Eve is the most double-booked night of the year, so early invitations get the most yeses.

New Year's Eve 2026 falls on Thursday, 31 December, and New Year's Day 2027 is Friday, 1 January — which makes 1 January a good day for a relaxed brunch or lunch.

Send a short, warm message with the date, time and address, and paste a link to a digital invitation underneath. The link holds every detail — the plan for the night, the map and the RSVP — so the message itself can stay short.

Yes. Copy one of the Hindi messages above, or write your own — the Midnight design shows any text you type, in any language, in your letter and the night's plan.

Yes. Add ?to= and the guest's name to the end of your link, and the invitation opens with "For Jules and Sam" on the clock screen and greets them by name in the letter.

It is a one-time ₹499 to publish, with no subscription and no per-guest charge. You can add every detail and preview the whole invitation — fireworks included — before you pay.

No. It is a link that opens in any phone browser from WhatsApp, iMessage, SMS, Instagram or email. Guests just tap it and count down to midnight.
